Three types of cover in one plan
Cover applies to fabric and leather sofas, chairs, recliners, footstools, beds and mattresses bought from Dante Furniture.
Accidental stains
All accidental household spills that leave a stain, including:
- Food and drink — tea, coffee, red wine, sauces
- Ink — biro, felt tip, permanent marker
- Cosmetics — make-up, nail polish, hair products
- Paint, glue and household chemicals
- Grease and oil-based stains
- Human and pet bodily fluids
- Dye transfer from clothing, including denim
- Acids, bleaches and corrosives
Accidental damage
Sudden, one-off damage to the fabric or leather, including:
- Rips, tears and punctures
- Burns and scorch marks
- Scratches and scuffs (including from jewellery, keys and buckles)
- Breakage, dents and chips
- Water, liquid and heat marks
- One-off damage caused by pets
- Damage caused by children
Structural defects
Manufacturing faults that appear after your standard guarantee ends, including:
- Frame warping and breakage
- Recliner mechanisms, motors and electrical components
- Broken zips, castors and buttons
- Bending or breakage of metal components
- Lifting or peeling of leather hide
- Peeling of veneered or laminate finishes
Stains and damage must result from a sudden, identifiable accident. The plan does not cover gradual build-up, wear and tear, or general cleaning. Full terms are in the Castelan policy document you receive with your certificate.

Repaired in your home
A trained technician visits to remove the stain or repair the damage. If it can't be fixed, the affected part or item is replaced.

So there are no surprises:
- Everyday wear and tear, and general soiling from normal use
- Stains or damage that have built up over time rather than from one incident
- Fading or discolouration from sunlight
- Deliberate damage, or damage from not following the care instructions
- Routine cleaning or maintenance — the plan isn't a cleaning service
- Furniture used commercially, or moved outside the UK
Furniture protection questions, answered
How do I make a claim on my furniture protection?
Claims go directly to Castelan, not through us. Report the stain or damage as soon as you can at claim.castelangroup.com or by calling 01934 416614, quoting the policy number on your certificate. Castelan will arrange for a technician to visit your home.
Is there an excess or any extra cost when I claim?
No. There is no excess and nothing further to pay for the technician's visit, the stain removal, the repair, or a replacement if one is needed. The one-off price you pay when you buy the plan is the total cost.
Can I add protection after my furniture has been delivered?
No — protection must be added before delivery. If you've placed an order and want to add it, call us on 01282 570700 before your delivery date and we'll add it for you.
Is pet damage covered?
Yes. One-off accidental damage caused by pets — a scratch, a chewed corner, an accident on the cushion — is covered. Repeated damage that builds up over time (for example, a cat scratching the same arm daily) isn't classed as accidental and isn't covered.
What if the stain or damage can't be repaired?
Castelan will first try to remove the stain or repair the damage in your home. If that isn't possible, they'll replace the affected part. If a matching part is no longer available, the item is replaced.
Does the plan cover beds and mattresses as well as sofas?
Yes, the plan is available on sofas, chairs, recliners, footstools, beds and mattresses. For mattress claims, the mattress protector supplied with the plan must be in use.
Can I call Castelan to clean my sofa?
The plan covers accidental stains from a specific incident, not general cleaning. For routine care, follow the care label and vacuum regularly; we're happy to recommend suitable fabric or leather care products.
How is this different from my standard guarantee?
Your Dante Furniture guarantee covers manufacturing faults for its stated period. It doesn't cover accidents like spills, rips or pet damage — that's what furniture protection is for. The plan also extends structural defect cover across the full five years once your standard guarantee ends.
Will claiming affect my home insurance?
No. Claims are made on your Castelan policy, so your home contents insurance and any no-claims bonus are unaffected.
