- Georgian and Victorian houses. Staircases can be steep with tight half-landings. Measure the turn, not just the doorway.
- Terraces in South Bank, Clifton and Leeman Road. Front doors often open straight into the front room, so the door width is the one that matters most.
- Newer homes in Haxby, Acomb and Huntington. Most sofa sizes go in easily, but check the lounge doorway for larger corner sofas.
